Boston, MA — [Sept 1, 2026] — CureLab Oncology, a biotechnology company advancing innovative approaches to cancer treatment, today announced the appointment of Bruce N. Cronstein, MD, to its Scientific Advisory Board.
Dr. Cronstein is Professor Emeritus of Medicine and Research Professor of Pathology at NYU Langone Health. His research has helped establish the central role of adenosine—a nucleoside released during cellular stress and injury—in regulating inflammation, bone metabolism, fibrosis, wound healing, and immune function. His scientific insights into adenosine signaling and its four principal receptors, A1R, A2AR, A2BR, and A3R, have created an important foundation for therapeutic research across inflammatory, fibrotic, musculoskeletal, and cancer-related diseases.

At NYU Langone Health, Dr. Cronstein leads research exploring the therapeutic potential of adenosine signaling in inflammatory, fibrotic, and musculoskeletal diseases. His laboratory has made influential contributions to the understanding of adenosine’s anti-inflammatory effects, including its role in moderating neutrophil activity, inflammatory-cell adhesion, and oxidative stress. The team has also investigated how adenosine signaling affects fibrosis, scarring, bone formation, and bone resorption.
Dr. Cronstein’s research also helped elucidate the mechanism by which low-dose methotrexate exerts anti-inflammatory effects in rheumatoid arthritis, demonstrating the role of adenosine release at inflamed sites.
